Pete Compton
Founder & Managing Director, Real Heritage Group
Managing Partner, RHG International
Pete Compton has spent twenty years working out what things are worth — in energy, real estate and carbon. Now he builds projects that make existing assets worth more.
Five years in real estate market analysis and advisory at CoStar Group. A decade at S&P Global, directing more than a hundred custom advisory engagements across energy and commodity markets for oil majors, utilities, global banks, private equity and sovereign wealth funds — work that turned on the same question each time: how is this priced, by whom, and what moves it.
In 2019, as the voluntary carbon market began to move, he was tapped to lead S&P Global Commodity Insights' development of carbon price assessments and carbon-offset commodity analysis — the work of deciding, methodically, what a carbon credit is actually worth.
That question travels. The commodity changes; the method doesn't.
Real Heritage Group is what came next.
Most carbon project developers arrive from forestry or conservation. Pete arrived from the price side, and that shapes how the firm builds: projects designed around what buyers will pay for and what diligence will survive, rather than around what is easiest to register.
He holds a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Geography from Auburn University, and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Denver.
